Yesterday (September 24, 2025) Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth honored legendary Chicago gallerist Rhona Hoffman at a celebration of her innumerable accomplishments, following over five decades of dedication to the arts. The festivities included a Mayoral Proclamation from Mayor Brandon Johnson declaring September 24, 2025 as Rhona Hoffman Day. ✨
To cement her legacy, Commissioner Hedspeth announced the newly created Rhona Hoffman Artist-in-Residency program to continue DCASE’s long-term support of Chicago’s art community by providing the necessary resources to sustain creative engagement.
“Rhona’s impact on the Chicago art community, and the art world at large, is undeniable. It’s an honor to align her remarkable contributions with DCASE’s mission and make this necessary investment in our communities,” said Commissioner Hedspeth.
